I seem to be having the same problems as everyone else here. I’m using the 2017 student version and I can’t even get a simple square when following directions. I’m doing exactly what I’m told but it just isn’t working out.

This is not the origin. Try zooming out while maintaining the cursor on that point, you will eventually notice that it is not the origin.
