With webflow becoming more an more relevant in the recent years, it is important to know how to quickly settup a form to help one send a PDF file to an audience when necessary.

Here is a simple solution that can help you achieve this with the least hassle possible.

Sending a PDF file in a email from a form

We are going to need a basic page in Webflow, together with your own domain name, and that will be all we need to make this happen. We are going to use the free service SendLouis.com.

Step 1

Head up to sendlouis.com and create a free account.

Step 2

Make sure you Add your domain and verify it, it takes 3 minutes

The service helps you send email from your own domain name. You will need to enter your domain name and the page will give you some DNS information to put in your registrar (namecheap or godaddy).

After this steps, click the verify button on sendlouis to confirm you added the given information to your registrar.

Step 3

Head to the integration page, press on the Webflow integration

After connecting with webflow, the system gives you a webhook url. It will look something like this:

Now, copy the webhook url and paste in it in Webflow in the form setting

Open the form setting

Click on + icon close to the “Send to”

Click on Webhook

Paste the webhook url and that is

In the configuration of your Webflow webhook in SendLouis, make sure you added the PDF to be send together with your email for this to work.

In the ever-evolving world of photo editing, some apps fade away as newer, flashier options take the stage. But a handful of older photo editors still hold their ground, quietly doing their job, faithfully updated (or at least functional), and keeping a loyal base of users happy.

These Android photo editor apps may not be the trendiest anymore, but they’ve stood the test of time. Whether it’s their simplicity, nostalgic features, or specific use cases, here are a few legacy apps that are still worth a download.

Apps like Glitch Photo Editor for Android may not top the charts, but they maintain a strong fan base in the niche of glitch art, vaporwave edits, and analog aesthetics. And with newer tools constantly pushing the boundaries of mobile creativity, it’s easier than ever to create stunning visuals right from your phone.

We’ve seen some older apps fade into the background while powerful, modern options like Snapseed, VSCO, and Lensa step into the spotlight. But no matter which app you pick, the goal stays the same, to bring your vision to life with just a few taps.

So go ahead and experiment. Download a few Android photo editor apps, try out their features, and find what works best for you. Because at the end of the day, the best editing app is the one that helps your photos tell a better story.

Explore the World Through Architecture: Iconic Styles Across Continents

There are various ways to study culture, like its culture and food, but perhaps nothing tells as much about a culture as the buildings it creates. There is something about architecture that keeps on fascinating, be it the soaring domes in Istanbul to the clean geometric lines characteristic of Tokyo.

Whether you are interested in designs or a traveller with a curious eye, exploring architectural styles can help expand your creativity and make you understand what makes a building unique.

What Are Architecture Styles?

Architecture styles are the characteristic approaches employed in building structures during a certain period of history or within a particular culture. The styles tend to respond to materials in use, the users’ needs, and the prevailing ideologies or beliefs.

From ancient temples of stone to contemporary glass towers, the styles change, but their impact endures. Most of today’s new buildings continue to draw upon the classical or local vernacular traditions.

1. Europe: The Cradle of Classical and Gothic Mastery

No discussion of architectural styles is complete without a mention of ancient Greece and Rome. Columns, symmetry, domes, and the golden ratio—these ideas were born here and continue to influence architects today.

Key Features:

Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian columns

Proportional harmony

Use of marble and stone

Examples include the Parthenon in Athens and Rome.

2. Gothic Architecture (Medieval Europe)

This architecture goes back to medieval Europe, where it was nurtured in France during the 12th century and went on to last till the 16th century. Gothic architecture is easy to spot, characterized by its height and an element of drama.

It’s indeed ironic that what is regarded as one of the best-loved architectural styles was once a pejorative term used by Renaissance critics to criticize it for being eerily strange and mysterious.

Prominent examples include Notre-Dame de Paris and Cologne Cathedral, and the following features best capture the essence of Gothic.

Pointed arches

Ribbed vaults

Flying buttresses

Stained glass windows

3. Middle East and North Africa

With the spread of Islam in continents as diverse as Spain to Persia, it left an enduring impact on the architectural style of these regions by infusing elements of religion and mathematics into traditional structures.

Calligraphy

Notable examples include the Alhambra in Spain, the Blue Mosque in Turkey, Shah Mosque in Iran.

Islamic architecture is a striking example of how architectural styles have evolved throughout regions and yet retain their ingenious aesthetics of blending culture and religion.

4. Asia: Balance, Nature, and Monumentality

Deriving from Taoist and Confucian thought, Chinese architecture is centred on achieving a harmony between nature, balance and symbolism. These buildings are defined by rigid geometric rules and represent the hierarchy prevalent in Chinese society.

Wooden buildings with curved roofs

Symmetrical floor plans

Feng Shui rules

Incorporation of red, gold, and green hues

Buildings like the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven are the best representatives of this architectural style.

5. Japanese Minimalism

Japanese architecture is minimalist to the core, bringing together tradition and simplicity. Ranging from ancient temples to contemporary buildings, the dominant emphasis is on utilizing light and space, and blending in with the surrounding environment.

Open floor plans

Integration with gardens and nature

Examples: Katsura Imperial Villa, Tadao Ando’s Church of the Light

It may amuse you to know that the global design trend of minimalism owes in great part to Japan’s age-old architectural philosophy.

6. Sub-Saharan Africa: Earth-Based Innovation

Africa is all about variety, be it in terms of people and landscape, and this is equally true about its architectural styles that combine elements of both old and new.

Before construction materials involved materials like concrete or steel, buildings in Africa were made using simple materials like mud, wood, and stone, in light of the harsh climate, as well as reflecting Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

Key Features:

Locally sourced organic shapes

Round huts with thatched roofs

Adobe walls

Carvings and symbolic paintings

Examples: Great Mosque of Djenné (Mali), Ndebele Painted Homes (South Africa)

Today’s African architects are blending tradition with contemporary design to cater to the needs of the current era, without giving up on their cultural identity.

7. Latin America: Colonial Echoes and Modern Mastery

When Spanish colonists came to the Americas, they brought European methods but modified them to suit local conditions. The outcome was a hybrid style that took root throughout Mexico, Central, and South America.

Key Features:

Stucco walls and red tile roofs

Courtyards (patios)

8. Modernist Movements

Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer revolutionized Latin American architecture with sweeping concrete forms and futuristic visions. Latin America continues to boast bold and socially responsible designs.

9. North America: A Fusion of Function and Form

Early American architecture was a replica of Europe, but soon developed its own character, particularly after Independence.

Key Features:

Brick and clapboard facades

Symmetrical windows and doors

Columns and pediments

Examples: Independence Hall, Monticello

10. Skyscrapers and Modernism

The development of the skyscraper in Chicago and New York irrevocably altered world architecture. Subsequently, the modernist movement prioritized function over form—resulting in clean lines, glass facades, and modular construction.

Key Features:

Steel frame construction

Curtain walls

Glass and concrete materials

Examples: Seagram Building in NYC, Walt Disney Concert Hall (LA)

Why Architecture Styles Matter Today

Learning about global styles of architecture is much more than admiring these pretty structures. Here’s what makes it worth studying;

Peek into History

It offers a pathway into history with each style unravelling details of how people lived, prayed, and structured society.

Embrace Cultural Diversity

It is a means to celebrate and honour the diversity of culture that inhabits the earth. The architecture is unarguably the biggest testament to this diversity, and lends a unique aura to each place.

Inspiring Contemporary Designs

These styles have an ageless appeal and hold immense potential to inspire new and innovative designs. They offer an eclectic mix of the old and the new.

Building Bridges

These architectural styles give us a reason to reaffirm our shared humanity despite distinct languages and borders. Buildings are not only concrete exemplars of human creativity, but also protect us and allow us to gather together.

Final Thoughts: Travel the World, One Building at a Time

The architecture of a country is much more than a collection of buildings- it speaks a language of its own that points to its culture and history. Every architectural wonder is not just a physical structure but a monument telling a story of the bygone times, how it came into being, who designed it and the culture it is part of.

Knowing different architectural styles can allow us to appreciate architecture on a deeper level while recognizing the crucial role it plays in shaping the identity of a people and the times they live in.

Whether your travels take you to the East or the West, remember to pause for a moment as you stand before architecture to observe and hear these marvels of humanity.

Can AutoCAD run on a Mac? A Complete Compatibility Guide

Does AutoCAD work on a Mac? Most people have this question, particularly those who are considering using CAD tools for creative work. Even while AutoCAD is compatible with macOS and Autodesk offers a version created especially for Mac users.

If you work as a designer, architect, or engineer and use a Mac, you may be asking if AutoCAD is actually optimized and fully usable for Macs. All of the information you require to make an informed choice prior to installation or subscription is covered in this comprehensive guide.

Understanding Mac AutoCAD

The business that created AutoCAD, Autodesk, is aware that a large number of creative workers utilize Mac computers. So what do you think? Can AutoCAD work on a Mac? They thus created a macOS-specific version of AutoCAD. The majority of the essential capabilities found in the Windows edition, this Mac-compatible version enables users to easily build intricate 3D models and accurate 2D drawings. The program supports contemporary macOS features like multi-touch gestures, Retina screens, and dark mode, and it can be downloaded via Autodesk’s website or the Mac App Store.

System prerequisites and interoperability

So, can AutoCAD work on Mac models using Apple’s latest hardware? Yes, once more, particularly in light of Apple’s shift to its own silicon chips, such as the M1, M2, and M3 series.

Apple Silicon-based and Intel-based Macs can now use AutoCAD. With the latest MacBooks and iMacs, users may anticipate increased performance, energy economy, and better handling of huge files.

A reasonably recent macOS version, at least macOS Monterey or later, is required for AutoCAD to run effectively on a Mac. You will also need a dependable graphics setup, about 4 GB of available storage space, and at least 8 GB of RAM (but 16 GB is advised).

Most modern Macs, especially the MacBook Pro and Mac Studio models, easily meet or exceed these requirements, providing outstanding speed, performance, dependability, and sophisticated graphics capabilities.

Expectations from mac versions

Although AutoCAD is a very strong program, many features that are present in the Windows version are absent from the Mac version. This is an important consideration when determining whether it matches your workflow. The Mac version is excellent for general drafting, 2D plans, and simple 3D modeling. It has features for 3D viewports, blocks, Xrefs, layer management, and annotation.

Nevertheless, macOS lacks some capabilities, such as support for .NET-based plugins, sophisticated tool palettes, and specific customization choices. Additionally, not all of the Express Tools that are accessible on Windows are included in the Mac version, and there are fewer options for managing sheet sets. Many users, particularly those who depend on essential AutoCAD features, feel the Mac version to be more than adequate for professional use in spite of this.

Apple Silicon Native Support

AutoCAD on Mac has the same licensing structure as AutoCAD on Windows. Autodesk has a range of subscription programs, such as monthly, yearly, and multi-year options. Free educational access, which includes the complete edition of AutoCAD for Mac, is also available to educators and students.

Autodesk provides a free 30-day trial so you may try the program before committing to a subscription if you’re not sure if the Mac version will work for you. Additionally, Autodesk’s Flex pricing model enables you to pay according to usage if you use AutoCAD sporadically.

Other Ways to Use All of Windows’ Features

There are several workarounds available for Mac users who have to use all of AutoCAD’s functionality, particularly those that are only available on Windows. One option is to install Parallels Desktop, a virtualization application that allows Windows to run inside macOS.

This method allows you to use the Windows version of AutoCAD while still utilizing your Mac tools. There are also cloud-based, browser-based versions that don’t need to be installed locally, such as AutoCAD Web or Autodesk Fusion 360.

Boot Camp, a function that installs Windows natively on Macs and is exclusive to Macs with Intel processors, is noticeably incompatible with the Silicon devices. The most practical solutions for Apple Silicon users who want the full Windows AutoCAD experience are currently browser-based or virtualization-based systems.

Does AutoCAD Make Sense for Mac Users?

Your needs may or may not be met by AutoCAD on a Mac. AutoCAD for Mac is an excellent option if you prefer the macOS environment and are primarily working on 2D sketches or relatively intricate 3D models.

However, the Windows edition, either on a PC or through virtualization, can be a better choice if your work entails highly customized workflows, substantial plugin use, or complex automation.

Nevertheless, it is no longer debatable if AutoCAD can operate on a Mac. With Autodesk’s constant updates and support for Apple’s latest technology, it not only works but also does it expertly. AutoCAD for Mac provides an effective drafting and modeling toolkit for both professionals and students without requiring them to leave the Apple ecosystem.

Final Thoughts

Finally, can AutoCAD work on a Mac? Well, AutoCAD is widely compatible with Macs and is regarded by many as a strong and efficient design tool. Professionals in a wide range of fields, such as architecture, engineering, and construction, continue to use AutoCAD regardless of the operating system they use on a daily basis due to its native support for Apple Silicon, reasonably priced license options, strong performance, comprehensive toolkit, and user-friendly interface tailored for Mac users.

Architecture Student Starter Pack

When it comes to relatable memes, the architecture student starter pack pops up every time, and it’s definitely hilarious. A closet full of black tees, a bunch of crashing software, a coffee-fueled body, and a ton of sketching supplies, if that doesn’t scream an archi-student, then what does

Expectation vs Reality Check

Architectural fails definitely take the crown for being the most hilarious. These not only make architects, but everyone laugh out loud

Client Expectations vs Client Budget

Budget clashes in the architecture profession are as common as sunlight. But every now and then, an architecture meme rolls around to make us all crack up with laughter from the utter stupidity of the gap.

Is It Too Much to Ask For?

Software crashes, especially AutoCAD, have a separate fan base. The architecture memes on its crash always hit home, and any architect will surely get it and laugh.

Architecture Student Life

Architecture student life sure is a living hell. Five years of bachelor’s plus 2-3 years of master’s, and a whole life of endless projects, all-nighter cycles, and putting every ounce of energy, if that’s not confinement, I don’t know what is.

How Artificial Intelligence is Changing the Way We Use AutoCAD

AutoCAD has long been a major aspect of architecture, engineering, and design fields. This non-negotiable tool is often used to create 2D and 3D models of massive structures before the actual build. But, with our current digital progression, artificial intelligence is infiltrating every field, and AutoCAD isn’t safe either. AutoCAD is using AI as a new and improved way to tackle model designing and automate processes.

With this integration, users have seen a massive transformation in terms of speed, accuracy, and overall efficiency. AutoCAD is evolving the entire design process by simplifying it and changing the traditional standard with a new perspective.

Understanding the Limitations of Traditional AutoCAD

Before we discuss the benefits and applications of artificial intelligence for AutoCAD, it is important to understand what traditional AutoCAD used to be and its limitations to accurately mark how far we have come. This widely used software was designed by Autodesk for precise drafting and designing. Typically, it is used to make elaborate blueprints of different infrastructure, buildings, and even products.

However, the traditional model comes with many limitations:

It requires manual input, which takes a lot of time

The chances of human error are high without any error detection

There is no automation shortcut for optimization or revisions

Learning curve is very steep, especially for newbies

Due to such limitations, AI took over to enhance the efficiency of AutoCAD, making it more effective and easier to use. With all the automation of artificial intelligence, all the design professions are sure to reach new heights.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial intelligence simply means integrating AI algorithms and machine learning tools in the software to improve its functionality. Now that we understand what AutoCAD used to be, it’s time to explore what it has become with the integration of AI. Artificial intelligence algorithms learn from user behavior and project data. This data is then used to automate repetitive tasks based on past behavior and predicted user intent.

This same model is used in AutoCAD artificial intelligence to suggest design improvements, detect errors, and even draft entire designs with minimal input. From a complete manual process to such automation, we have come so far with this integration. Autodesk Research AI Lab has been investing a lot in AI to keep up with the digital progress and cater to the new challenges in design preparations. These smart integrations are continually enhancing AutoCAD’s capabilities, making it more advanced, intuitive, and accessible.

Key Ways Artificial Intelligence Impacts AutoCAD

To understand the full extent of this upgrade, we must understand how and where AI has penetrated its claws in AutoCAD. There are various aspects that have been changed that were previously considered limitations. Let’s have a look:

Automated Drafting and Design

Before AutoCAD artificial intelligence, every task was done manually. One of the biggest achievements with AI integration in AutoCAD is automated drafting and designing. Oftentimes, designs follow similar patterns that AI can recognize and automate.

For instance, it can automatically complete repetitive patterns based on previous projects, provide complete layouts of common architectural designs, such as doors and windows, and even offer suggestions based on current trends.

Such enhancement will surely reduce a lot of time spent on manual AutoCAD tasks, enabling architects to focus where it matters the most—creativity and innovation.

Error Detection and Quality Assurance

Traditionally, there were no tools for error detection in AutoCAD, which led to many costly revisions and hours of lost hard work. However, AI can detect even minor errors and inconsistencies in drawing patterns. Imagine all your simple errors of misaligned elements, wrong layers, and dimension errors detected automatically. Sounds relieving, right?

This is not just an imagination anymore, with AutoCAD artificial intelligence, it’s all possible. AI can give non-compliance warnings, perform integrity checks in real-time, and detect all your errors, consequently minimizing revisions, saving time, and reducing cost.

NLP Commands

Previously, users had to learn specific commands to design on AutoCAD. Due to this, the traditional AutoCAD model had a steep learning curve. Now, it can be done with simple sentences. AutoCAD artificial intelligence understands what the user wants and executes it accordingly. Not only has it reduced the learning curve, but also made the process surprisingly very fast and easy for experienced users

Use of Generative AI

Generative AI is something that has taken an unprecedented leap. Almost every design field, from basic Photoshop to advanced software like AutoCAD, is transforming the design process by leaps and bounds. AutoCAD artificial intelligence can generate entire blueprints just with parameter inputs from the user.

The best part? It optimizes multiple designs simultaneously to provide design variations for presentation without going over budget. Clients usually aren’t satisfied with one design but only have a budget for one, and sometimes, space optimization and performance become an issue. AutoCAD resolves these issues in a snap.

Data-Driven Insights

The best part about AI is that it not only automates but also analyzes work before doing so. This way, it can predict design integrity and structural performance based on the evaluation of past projects. Architects design wonders, but many designs fail due to structural integrity. AutoCAD artificial intelligence checks it in real-time to present the final design with minimal revisions required.

Real-World AI Applications of AutoCAD Artificial Intelligence

AutoCAD artificial intelligence has shown its wonders in many fields, including architecture, engineering, construction, media, and manufacturing.

Construction: It can predict design integrity to eliminate any structural risk before construction.

Architecture & Engineering: It speeds up iterations in AutoCAD, empowering architects and engineers to deliver projects with sustainable outcomes.

Design & Manufacturing: It automates tedious and repetitive work in the design and manufacturing process.

Potential Challenges of AutoCAD Artificial Intelligence

Despite such amazing applications, AI comes with potential risks, drawbacks, and challenges. Some of the common ones are:

Training design teams to use AutoCAD artificial intelligence seamlessly

Keeping up with the rapid progression and updates of newer versions

With cloud computing of all project data, privacy becomes a major concern

The most vicious one, the fear of job displacement due to AI

Final Thoughts

AutoCAD artificial intelligence is the future, but we need to adopt it consciously and carefully. There are plenty of benefits we can avail ourselves of if we consider the potential challenges and work around them. Surely this fusion will serve as an empowering tool to make the design process simpler, easier, and faster.

The Best Way to Learn AutoCAD

There is no such thing as the best way to learn AutoCAD. The answer to this question depends heavily on your style of learning.

If you have some expectations in mind while learning AutoCAD and happen to be capable of committing financially, you will be better off finding a teacher and having him help you make a plan. You must be able to gauge the learning material and be somewhat sure that after consuming it, it will help you get to your destination and of course set what the destination is beforehand.

There are plenty of places online where you can find nicely structured courses that will help you learn AutoCAD fast.

How long does it take to learn AutoCAD

Life. It takes a life to learn AutoCAD. The question is too vague to find a precise answer.

The answer to this question depends on many criteria which the two most important are the following

how far do you want to learn AutoCAD?

What do you want to learn AutoCAD for?

AutoCAD exists in many versions:

AutoCAD

AutoCAD LT

AutoCAD Mechanical

AutoCAD Electrical

AutoCAD MEP

AutoCAD Revit Structure

AutoCAD Architecture

AutoCAD Civil 3D

AutoCAD MAP 3D

AutoCAD Revit Architecture

First, you need to decide the direction of your training and that will help you better evaluate how long it will take to learn AutoCAD to the point of interest.

If you are just concerned about learning AutoCAD basics, the process will be less complicated and it will considerably take a short amount of time to learn

Learn AutoCAD fast

To me, learning by doing is the fastest way to learn.

Again if you happen to be in a paid training, all will be done for you to absorb the skills quickly (if you have done your homework by selecting a good training).

If you are learning on your own, one of the fastest ways to learn is to find as many AutoCAD practice exercises you can find, and try replicating them. That will help you find your limits, and push there further at each time you will find difficulties.

The visual style of learning is way effective and is worth mentioning here. Find videos tutorials that will show you the step by step use of AutoCAD commands, then you will be able to use similar tricks to find your ways around many AutoCAD exercises you can find on the web.

Learning AutoCAD online.

You will be able to find a lot of free online training on the web via Google but remember free is not always the best, however, the choice will heavily depend on your budget, on what you want to have an AutoCAD training for, and on the knowledge you want to acquire.

The first thing to know while seeking to learn AutoCAD is that the order of learning is very important and you will need some guidance to help you know where to start and the route to take to learn things in the proper order, if not I doubt you will keep up. You will just get frustrated and quit.

AutoCAD training from AutoDesk

Let’s just assume you want a free online course that will help you learn the basics in AutoCAD, many sites in that regards will throw a bunch of tutorials to your face without any order, just tips and tricks that will contribute to making you even more confused.

Luckily, AutoDesk has created a simple and clear roadmap for you to follow, which will increase your learning time and make you more confident as you progress.

Here is the map. These AutoCAD training Courses can be found on the AutoDesk site.

What the map does is

Giving you the ability to access each of the training by a simple click on the corresponding part of the map

Guiding you as you learn

Giving you a birth view of all you need to learn

helping you separate tools and commands in blocks or class

Helping you estimate the time you will need to complete the whole training by seeing how far you need to go

If you are just starting from scratch or need to refresh your skills after a sabbatical period, this is the training you need.

Another way to use this free resource is to not only use the courses provided by AutoDesk but also make use of the AutoCAD built-in help.

Each time you hover the cursor on a tool and hold that position for a while, AutoCAD always explains what the command is for and gives you an example of how it is used.

If you pay close attention to the map above, you will notice a command named Extend in the MODIFYING block.

By simply hovering the cursor on the icon corresponding to this command in AutoCAD, AutoCAD will explain what the command does and will give me an example of the use of this command.

In addition to using AutoDesk free online courses, you can decide to use the software as well.

Free training from tutorial45.com

We at Tutorial45 believe one complementary way to learn fast is to provide challenges that will push you to dig into your skills and notice where gaps exist. Thus, we push you to fill the gap.

The biggest hurdle to learning something like AutoCAD isn’t the software itself but it’s having something to actually practice drawing.

We have provided a list of 21 AutoCAD lessons in which you will be challenged to replicate 2D figures using AutoCAD or any 2D CAD software you might be using.

This AutoCAD training is meant to help you chronologically learn AutoCAD basics while at each subsequent stage increasing difficulties. At any stage, you are later shown what to do to get the exercise done in case you fail to complete the training.

This is a good added value, if you have used any resource to learn AutoCAD, and feel like you need to auto-assess your skill, you will be pleased while going through this AutoCAD 21 days of challenge.

Additional training resources

There are a lot of great free online AutoCAD courses out there, and the one I would like to start with here is mycadsite.com. The site has been there for almost a decade and offers free classes in a detailed manner. If you visit the site, you will notice how ordered the content is given to the learner.

The training has been decomposed there in 4 levels.

Training LEVEL 1- Getting Started with AutoCAD

Training LEVEL 2 – Intermediate AutoCAD

Training LEVEL 3 – Introduction to 3-D

Training LEVEL 4 – Advanced Topics

Notice it goes even further and teaches you how to use AutoCAD in 3D.

If you are rather interested in more sophisticated skills, you will be better off following sites like lynn.blogs.com, cad-notes.com, autocadtips1.com. These blogs are handled by AutoDesk AutoCAD certified professional.

If you have any in-depth concerns about AutoCAD and simply want to know what added tools a news version of AutoCAD has compared to its predecessor, you will find related answers on their websites.

Learning AutoCAD from YouTube is also an alternative that should not be disregarded. Video courses are the best CAD learning route anyone can take, and you might just happen to find YouTube, which is the best place to learn AutoCAD online, and it is free.

If you are a beginner, try searching AutoCAD tutorials on YouTube. Again, be specific about what you want to learn while exploring. Remember by the time you start using the search field in YouTube, you must have made your homework beforehand, You must have figured out words to use and the order in which you wish to learn. Using vague keywords like “AutoCAD training” will just give you vague results. (It is true that you can find a channel in which courses are numbered, making it easier for you to follow along, but that is not always the case)

AutoCAD training Online

Here I will mention one resource, which right now is probably the most popular paid way to learn anything on the internet: udemy.com

The site is a subscription-based service that allows you to learn AutoCAD at your own space. Some videos are made available free to help you preview courses, so you can judge the quality of the course style without totally diving in.

One advantage of lynda.com is that, rather than paying for a course, you pay for unlimited access to everything in the catalog. lynda.com delivers high-quality, painstakingly detailed content that will have you focus on the most important: learning AutoCAD.

AutoCAD and its Uses: What is AutoCAD Used for?

If you are reading this, it won’t be far-fetched to say that this may be one of the first times you have heard the word AutoCAD.

It also means that you may be interested in design and what computer-aided design software offers. Whatever your reasons, I invite you to treat this article as an introduction to AutoCAD and its vast uses in the professional world of digital design.

What is AutoCAD?

In the 1980s, a team of engineers aimed to streamline the complex drawing methods utilized by draftsmen, architects, and engineers, which had been popular in the 1970s. They focused on refining these challenging CAD processes.

Their solution is to introduce built-in graphics controllers into microcomputers. This allowed designers to easily create diagrams, while the internal graphics controllers reproduced these drawings. This novel method resulted in a significant transformation in the design field over the subsequent years.

In simple words, AutoCAD is a commercial software application used to draft 2D and 3D models with a computer.

Although this description provides an all-encompassing explanation of what AutoCAD is used for, it does not break down its uses into the specialized units the software is known for. Therefore, I shall outline 5 practical ways in which the CAD software can be used.

What does AutoCAD stand for?

AutoCAD stands for Automatic Computer-Aided Design.

As an architectural planning tool

AutoCAD provides its users with an intuitive user interface that comes with built-in design layouts. These layouts include numerous templates specifically designed for architectural planning and building construction.

With adequate knowledge of AutoCAD, anyone can take on projects that involve designing architectural plans for construction purposes or building structures that can be replicated in real time.

Newer versions of AutoCAD also provide architects and builders with the analytical tools needed to analyze a building’s components and troubleshoot the stress and load levels of every support structure of a virtually designed building.

This means that with AutoCAD, you can create an architectural plan, design a building, and carry out specific analyses to determine its capacity and strengths before replicating it on a physical site.

As an Engineering Drafting Tool

The drawing of engineering components, infrastructure designs and analyzing HVAC systems plays a major role in most engineering –Civil, Mechanical, Systems and Electrical engineering— fields. And to do this while minimizing human errors, the use of a computer-aided design application is recommended.

AutoCAD is one of the recommended design software applications because it provides professionals in these niches with unique drafting tools that can be used to bring their engineering ideas to life with the accuracy they require. So in this stead, AutoCAD serves as software for designing mechanical components, analyzing electrical and piping systems and solving design issues that may arise.

As a Graphic Design Tool

Although there are arguably more advanced graphic design tools in the computer-aided design community, AutoCAD’s innate features that enable its users to plan out architectural spaces, map them out and take advantage of the available space makes it a formidable design tool that can be used simultaneously with 3D Max, Maya, and other design/animation tools when the need arises.

AutoCAD supports the use of DWG and DXF files which can be exported from its interface to those of other advanced CAD applications to aid animation projects. This means that as an animator or graphic designer, you can take advantage of AutoCAD to create building structures and architectural plans which can now be exported for further design additions on advanced modeling applications.

In 3D Printing

To create a 3D printed object, an individual must go through these three processes; choose the object, get a virtual 3D representation of the chosen object, and then feed the 3D printer this prototype to carry out the 3D printing process. It is clear to see—from the 3D printing process—that a model design tool or software definitely has a part to play and this is where AutoCAD comes in. With AutoCAD, 3D printing enthusiasts can create be-spoke 3D models on its workspace for use in the 3D printing process.

AutoCAD also ensures that file compatibility is not an issue for you can design your models on its interface and export your designs in the preferred ‘.stl’ format which most 3D printers and slicing software function with.

In the Fashion Industry

It is important to understand that the design pattern of every diamond, shining stone or jewelry you have had the pleasure of either wearing or viewing did not come by chance but from careful design considerations and plans. AutoCAD is design software that comes with the required tools needed to draft and design virtually anything of your choice, and the design of certain fashion items is no exception.

This CAD software and intuitive interface, un-complicates the complications that come with designing intricate shapes consisting of octagons, tetrahedrons and many more shapes you or I may have no knowledge of.

As an Industrial Design Tool

The goal of every manufacturing and industrial organization is to make enough money to cover the cost accrued in producing any product and AutoCAD helps reduce that cost in many ways. With the use of its CAD interface, industrialists can design working prototypes of virtually any object as well as test its functionality during the design process.

AutoCAD provides the tools to both design the initial prototype as well as tweak its ergonomics before the need to sink money into the actually production comes up.

Subsequently, designers can also use the virtual prototype for presentations when advertising or seeking for funds.

I have outlined what I believe are the most important uses of AutoCAD in today’s design society but your input on this topic will definitely be appreciated. So please feel free to share some of the creative ways in which you have used computer-aided design in your field of study in the comment box below.

To be more specific, here are few answers to this question from Reddit.

I’m an environmental engineer, 3rd yr EIT. I still use 2007 ACAD. I draw plans for Waste Water Treatment Plants and Water Treatment Plant designs. It mostly entails cutting and pasting layers from DWGs provided by the equipment suppliers, structural engineer, and surveyors into the same consolidated DWG with a few added notes. The only original parts I draw are hydraulic profiles and plant flow schematics which are just a bunch of arrows and lines, it requires no AutoCAD skills at all. There’s no one at my office to teach me. My more complicated files, where I copy and paste stuff in, are pretty on the surface, but a horrific mess of X-Ref errors, missing shapefile links, un-used layers that I don’t know how to delete, and are generally just ‘exploded’ until everything works. I’m trying to work on getting better at organizing. I’m very embarrassed whenever I have to send my DWG to someone else, because it so precariously held together!
